Dirt Track Racing - tracks
Natchez Trace Speedway
- Columbia, TN |
|
This
1/4 mile, high-banked clay bullring sits just off the scenic
Natchez Trace Parkway. Home to some of super-fast-paced Tennessee
racing action, "The Trace" is one tough customer.
With its fast rim groove, drivers must find the balance between
getting a good run off of the banking and going right over
and out of contention. The tight configuration demands heads-up
driving for every lap of competition. |

Oceanside Speedway
- Pompano Beach FL |
|
This
1/4 mile track is banked at 8 degrees, and provides some of
the tightest short track racing. The racing surface is white
sand which can leave you searching for a line with the best
grip, and when you finally find the best route, chances are
the track conditions will change and leave you hunting again.
It occuppies some fine real-estate, located right on Pompano
Beach, investors keep trying to snatch up this land and erect
yet another beach resort, but the owners of Oceanside Speedway
stay true to their racers and fans and refuse to sell out.
Whether it be a day or a night race you can enjoy this facility
even after the racing is done, by spending the rest of your
time on the beach swimming, or by the fire swapping racing
stories with the other drivers and fans. |

State
Line Raceway Park -
McShan, AL |
|
In
the community of McShan, AL, a few miles from the city of
Columbus, MS, State Line Raceway Park is a brand new, first-class
racing facility. The 2/5 mile, high banked (22 deg.) dirt
oval made from the finest red clay available is the centerpiece
of a sparkling motorsports complex that also features a go-kart
track, a 1/8 mile mini sprint oval, and a 1/4 mile paved dragstrip
which can be seen just off the backstretch of the dirt track.
Steep, wide turns and slightly uneven banking make for an
interesting racing line as drivers dive into the turns low
at full throttle, turning sharply just as they reach the outside
wall. The most daring drivers never even lift their right
foot.
